PALM SUNDAY
Further Reflections
Today, we remember one of the most powerful moments in the life of Jesus—His entrance into Jerusalem.
The Gospels tell us that Jesus rode into the city on a donkey, fulfilling the words spoken long before by the prophet Zechariah: “Behold, your king is coming to you… humble and mounted on a donkey.”
As He entered the city, crowds lined the streets. They laid down their cloaks in the road. They waved palm branches. And they shouted with joy, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
In that moment, the people believed everything was about to change. They were expecting a king who would fix their circumstances, overthrow their oppressors, and restore their nation.
But Jesus came to do something even greater.
He didn’t come to conquer armies—He came to conquer sin. He didn’t come to win a temporary victory—He came to secure an eternal one.
And in many ways, we find ourselves in a similar place today.
We are still waiting.
Jesus promised that He will return. And until that day comes, we are called to live with purpose in the waiting.
So the question becomes: How will we wait?
While we wait, we worship.
While we wait, we serve.
While we wait, we invite others to know the Savior.
Holy Week begins today. And this journey will lead us to the cross—and ultimately to the empty tomb and the hope of the Risen Savior.
