We are still in the process of dealing with what was not a normal week, For some of us, life has almost gotten back to normal, but for others, it’s still very different and difficult. That said, this Sunday there will be some differences to what is our normal schedule.
- Sunday
- We will have our standard schedule on Sunday: 8:30 Traditional, 9:45 and 11:00 Modern.
- We are asking small groups to NOT meet on Sunday morning
- Having people on campus for two time slots puts stress on our Preschool and Children’s areas and several of those committed workers are still out of town or out of power or flooded in. Let’s serve them well by NOT meeting with our small group but just coming to our preferred Worship Service only.
- That means families will attend worship together.
- We are asking our ENTIRE CHURCH to come on Sunday AFTERNOON (at 1:30 pm).
- Our goal is to go out into our community and meet needs.
- Think about it like this… Service in the morning SERVE in the afternoon.
- We will meet at the church, split up into teams, then descend on homes in our community that still have clean-up needs.
- Bring rakes, work gloves, chain saws, pole-saws, etc… Come ready to serve our community.
- Imagine the scene… a yard needs to be cleaned up, so about 40-50 of us show up and clean up the yard in about 20 minutes then we’re off to the next house. (I’ve seen it and it’s AWESOME!!)
- Our goal is to go out into our community and meet needs.
- By the way, if you still need help, please let us know. Even if you think it’s too big or too small, please let us make that decision. We can help with downed trees. We can help with simple yard cleanup. We can help with tarping a roof. We probably cannot restore your power…
- For Hurricane Help, text “Milton” to 386-734-1991 or just CLICK HERE to register your need. By the way, you’re welcome to register for a friend or neighbor. This is not reserved for members of Stetson Baptist.
I can’t wait to share with you some of the amazing things that God has done this week. I hope to see you on Sunday!

WOW… what a night!?! The wind howled, the rain pelted, but, from what I’ve been able to see, most of our area survived although some trees down, some power out, and some streets (and homes) are flooded. While there are areas of our state that were hit harder, we still have a good bit of work to do to get back completely on our feet..
In addition, last I heard, there were 9-10 people that lost their lives in Hurricane Milton. Let’s be in prayer for the families of those that lost loved ones.
For us… here are today’s updates:
- FRIDAY
- We’ve heard that some of you are having to return to work virtually on Friday. If that’s you and your power or internet aren’t restored, you’re welcome to come to the church to work. The Family Life Center and Student Center will be open tomorrow at 9:00 am. AC is on, Power is on, Internet is on!
- Our Hurricane Help crew will begin dispersing to help needs tomorrow morning. If you haven’t signed up for that group, you’re still welcome to meet us at the church at 9:00 (no registration required, but if you want to register, text “Helper” to 386-734-1991).
- If you need help, please let us know.
- SUNDAY
- It’s looking more and more like we will have worship service(s) on Sunday. What will those look like? We’re not sure yet, but we will let you know by Saturday morning at the latest. Lots of considerations and lots can change between now and then.
- Check out our Hurricane Update page on our website: www.stetson.church/storm
Church family… this is an amazing time for the CHURCH to look like the Body of Christ… you know, the CHURCH!! Let’s show His love in a practical way by serving our neighbors and shining the light of Jesus into every interaction we have!
I hope to see some of you in the morning at 9:00 am. (Wear your work clothes and gloves)

Many of you are reading this from the location where you’ll ride out the storm. Today’s update isn’t much different than what I shared on Monday. Again, if you have any questions about the below, please don’t hesitate to e-mail us or call the church office (386-734-1991). If you don’t get an answer at the office (we ARE closed today), please leave a voicemail that will be forwarded to our staff. That said, here are a few updates:
- All activities are canceled tonight and tomorrow.
- We’ve created an update page on our website: www.stetson.church/storm
- If you want updates directly to your inbox (like this e-mail), CLICK HERE (obviously, this is for others that you might forward this e-mail to because YOU are already getting these updates).
- For Hurricane Help, text “Milton” to 386-734-1991 or just CLICK HERE to register your need. By the way, you’re welcome to register for a friend or neighbor. This is not reserved for members of Stetson Baptist. (We had a request last night to deal with a generator and one of our members was able to get it running.)
- If you’re willing to HELP with the Hurricane Help, text “Helper” to 386-734-1991 or CLICK HERE. Remember, registering for this group only means you’ll be contacted when we hear of a need. If you’re available, come. If you’re not, no problem. (This is ALSO not reserved for members of Stetson Baptist. Anybody can register and anybody can help.)
- If you’re not already aware, we actively support Florida Baptist Disaster Relief. While there are many disaster recovery organizations out there, there are none that have the Kingdom impact that FLDR has. If you’re looking for an organization to support or to serve alongside, we wholeheartedly recommend this one.
- SUNDAY plans still remain to be seen. Right now, Sunday services will happen as scheduled, but things could change. Please stay tuned and check our update website if you have any questions.
Personally, as I’ve been out and about in preparation for this storm, I’ve experienced the same thing that you have. People are anxious. People are fearful. People are frustrated. Remember that we carry the name of Jesus into every situation (even tough ones… ESPECIALLY tough ones…). What an opportunity for the church to be the church! Whether it’s a kind word or gesture or an offer of prayers and positive thoughts… you never know what an impact you can make by showing the love of Christ.
Let’s continue to pray for those that will be most affected by this storm. Remember, as the storm shifts AWAY from us, it shifts TOWARD someone else. (or vice versa) Let’s just pray for grace, peace, and safety for whomever the storm affects.
I’m praying for YOU, our church family, this morning!!!
