Further Reflections
Thursday of Holy Week marks the beginning of Passover — a celebration that had been part of Jesus’ life every year since childhood. He had celebrated it with His family, with friends, and with His disciples. But this year… was different.
This Passover was leading Jesus to the cross.
This meal wouldn’t just be about remembering what God had done in the past — it would point to what Jesus was about to do in the present: offer His life as the perfect sacrifice for sin.
Jesus used this final Passover meal — what we now call the Last Supper — to prepare His disciples, to give them a mission, and to point them to the hope beyond the cross.
It’s a powerful reminder for us.
We all have rhythms in life.
→ Sunday worship.
→ Easter every year.
→ Christmas celebrations.
→ Bible reading habits.
Those rhythms are good — they give life structure and shape our faith. But if we’re not careful, routine can become… just routine.
We can start to go through the motions without really engaging our hearts.
That’s why Thursday of Holy Week challenges us to pause and ask:
Am I just attending Easter — or am I celebrating Easter?
Am I just going to church — or am I worshiping my risen Savior?
Am I just remembering a story — or am I living in its power today?
This year, let Easter be fresh. Let worship be real. Let gratitude rise in your heart as you remember:
→ Jesus died for you.
→ Jesus rose again.
→ Jesus gives eternal life.
That’s not routine. That’s the greatest news in history.
Let’s celebrate it like it’s brand new — because the truth of Easter never gets old.
