Further Reflections

It’s late Friday afternoon—around five o’clock.

Jesus has been taken down from the cross.

With the Sabbath approaching, everything has to happen quickly. There’s no time for a long, carefully planned burial. Decisions are made in the moment.

A man named Joseph of Arimathea offers his own tomb. Alongside him is Nicodemus.

Together, they wrap the body of Jesus in linen cloth, along with burial spices. Then they place Him in the tomb.

A large stone is rolled across the entrance.

Soon, Roman guards will be stationed there to make sure no one can take the body.

It all happens quickly.

The tomb wasn’t selected after careful planning—it was simply what was available in the moment.

And that detail points us to something important for our own lives.

The burial of Jesus happened in a hurry.

But our response to Jesus should never be rushed.

It should never be careless.

It should never be an afterthought.

Instead, we are called to respond with intention.

To pause.

To reflect.

To prepare our hearts for what God wants to do.

So as we sit in this moment of Holy Week, the question becomes personal:

Are we open to what Jesus wants to do in our lives?

Are we ready to follow where He leads?

Before we rush ahead to what comes next, take time to sit in this moment.

Let it settle in.

And choose—intentionally—to prepare your heart to follow Jesus… wherever He leads.
