Further Reflections

As Jesus hung on the cross, after hours of agony and suffering, He spoke three powerful words:

“It is finished.”

These were not words of defeat.

They were not the final gasp of a life slipping away.

They were a declaration.

The work was complete.

The price for sin had been paid.

No more sacrifices were necessary. No longer would humanity need to strive to earn favor with God—Jesus had done it all. In that moment, He fulfilled the very purpose He came to accomplish.

He had lived the perfect life.

And now He gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice.

“It is finished” was not a cry of loss—it was a shout of victory.

And then, Jesus breathed His last.

The Son of God gave His life so that we could have life—eternal life. Through His death, we are offered forgiveness, freedom, and reconciliation with God.

These words remind us of a powerful truth: there is nothing left for us to do to earn our salvation.

We don’t add to His work.

We don’t complete what He started.

We simply receive it by faith.

“It is finished” brings peace—because it means everything necessary for our salvation has already been accomplished.

So the question is not, “What do I need to do?”

The question is:

Will you receive what Jesus has already done for you?
