With that said, there is ONE image that comes to mind over all of the others when I think of Easter… the Resurrected, Victorious, All-Powerful, Gracious, Loving, Overcoming, Redeeming, LIVING Savior!!!
As we celebrate Easter at Stetson Baptist Church, we are celebrating the SUPER BOWL of Christian events. Nothing is bigger than Easter. All of the other events and celebrations of the life of Christ point to the resurrection. All of the other stories in the Bible point to the risen Savior. If not for Easter, we serve a dead teacher or moral leader. Because of the resurrection, Jesus is SO MUCH MORE!!!
THAT is why we focus on Easter… and THAT is why you should focus on Easter too! INVITE people to our Easter Services. If you’re on Facebook, go to our Facebook page (click here) and "share" the events posted there. SHARE with people how much Easter (and its TRUE meaning) means to you. ATTEND Easter Services. Even if you’re not in town on Easter, you should be in an Easter Service wherever you are to celebrate the resurrection with God’s people.
This year, we’ve made this even easier… At the end of last year’s Easter season, we evaluated our celebration of Easter and found something specific. We had put all of our “eggs in the basket” (pun intended) of our two Easter Services. We wanted to expand our celebration of the resurrection past our Sunday celebration. This year, we will be hosting daily mid-day Holy Week Services at 11:45. Each day, we will have a different pastor from our community come to Stetson Baptist to share a message that helps us to focus on the week before Jesus’ crucifixion, burial and resurrection. This is an opportunity to show the world that although there may be some denominational distinctives that divide us, there are SO many more things (especially in the message of Easter) that bring us as Christians together.
As a special emphasis, we will host a Good Friday service, led by myself and Carlos, on Friday, April 14th at 6:30. In this service we will focus on the crucifixion of Jesus through singing, preaching, and sharing The Lord’s Supper together.
Nursery (Birth-4) will be available for all services.
I hope you will prioritize these opportunities to prepare your heart for the celebration of Easter. If you are home every day, we hope to see you every day at 11:45. If you work locally, we hope to see you each day. Even if you can’t be there by 11:45, come when you can and leave when you must.
I pray that, in the future, one of the images that comes to mind when someone mentions Easter will be the beauty of a community coming together across denominational lines to celebrate one of the most remarkable and miraculous events in all of history… the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. To GOD be the Glory!!!
