- I am disappointed that this is not a true “live action” film. I was looking forward to seeing an actual beast become a person. It gives someone like me some hope of ever being considered “good-looking”. I guess I will just have to continue accepting I look the way I do for a reason…
- I have small children. Too small for this particular movie. And you think I would waste a date night on this? Seriously, when was the last time I got to go to a movie of my choice? You think I would pick a kids movie when I could watch something being blown up? (Natalie may have other opinions, so the views expressed in this reason should be considered only mine and not reflective of my wife’s…)
- I am just not a big movie person. I would rather be out doing, than sitting down watching. If I am going to be sitting, I would prefer to be reading or sleeping. Definitely sleeping. (I told you I was in the minority.)
- Probably the biggest reason for not seeing this movie in theater is… I am cheap. Frugal. Adverse to spending money. I feel like if I wanted to see any movie in a movie theater, I would have to sell a kidney to afford tickets and snacks. I am not 100% sure what my kidneys do, but I like where they are. No movie is worth that much to me.
Were you expecting other reasons? There has been a lot said about a liberal agenda that seeks to normalize sin. There has been a lot said about how Christians should stand up and boycott to preserve their values. There has been a lot said about being of the world but not in the world. There has been a lot said about all those things, so go read those articles. There are merits and nuggets of wisdom out there to be found, so go search.
I just think that there is a bigger picture that we do not need to miss. If you are reading this God loves you. If you are not reading this, God loves you. If you can’t read, God loves you. If you are mad at God, God loves you. There is no person excluded from God’s love and at what lengths He will go to pursue you. No matter what you have done, what you are doing, or what you will do, God loves you. He loves you so much, that He was willing to trade His Son’s life for your life. Don’t let the distractions and talk of sin (whether homosexual, heterosexual, pornography, gossip, hate, or anything else) take away this one focus, that God loves you. Once you accept that, then we can talk about what that means for our lives. But don’t miss that God loves you.
And just one more time for good measure, God loves you!
